Orchid '62

An updated dedication to Class of 1962 at A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC. The Bronze Orchid was their official class flower.

I had the honor of attending this wonderful school only one year, but graduated from another. I dedicate this new addition (having created the first creation for their 45th reunion) to celebrate their 50th in a few years. I have been honored to receive unsolicited invitations to be a part of their celebrations throughout the years, unconditionally. To these wonderful people, I say thanks and without reservation acknowledge each and everyone as a "Class Act" with eternal gratitude.

The Phoenix

A mythical bird. At the end of its life-cycle the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises. With regenerating abilities, thus being almost immortal and invincible-a symbol of fire and divinity. The Phoenix (*Bennu bird) became popular in Christian art, literature, and symbolism; as a symbol of Christ's resurrection, immortality, and life-after-death.
